I graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2018 with a BA Honours in Primary Education with a specialism in mathematics. My goal has always been to make learning memorable and accessible to all, supporting every child to flourish in their own journey. Through my experience I have taught EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, while I have also worked for a period in specialist provision. Throughout this, I have taught the National Curriculum through to Year 6, including SATs and supporting with the 11+, familiarised myself with the ELG and also taught over a year of the International Baccalaureate. Currently working as a tutor I have been tutoring GCSE (English, Maths and Science); CAT and entry assessments as well as SATS. I have also recently completed a TEFL course.
My specialism in mathematics has been key in ensuring a good level of progress in maths and a use of strategies that embed key learning and transferable skills through a conceptual understanding.
My teaching style is innovative and supportive, creating exciting and new styles to engage learners. I have always used a creative approach to teaching, as everybody learns differently. I believe it is important to be flexible in my approach to support the learner in the best way for them and tailor my teaching to their strengths and needs, whether this be through providing a real life context, practical and interactive learning or leaning into personal interests. I believe in supporting children in boosting their confidence, not only as learners but as people and creating an intrinsic value of positivity to develop their self-esteem. I always encourage children to try their best, have a go and ask questions. I hope to create a relaxed, collaborative and positive atmosphere where the children feel enthusiastic and excited to learn in a way that is memorable to them.
