Nick Brindlow

Hi there!

My name is Nick and for over 20 years, I've been lucky enough to help hundreds of young people with their literacy. Whether it's aiding comprehension or helping give words to their passions, I've been privileged to aid their learning journeys. Working with a student's interests, strengths and specific needs, I aim to create bespoke learning solutions that support and stretch their attainment. Using digital tools underpinned by robust pedagogy, I aim to ignite their interest and give them the tools to become insightful, independent learners.

These goals are reinforced by my background. I am a father to a young child, so I try to put myself in the parent’s position and think: “what would I want for my daughter?” Moreover, as a first-generation university student, I understand the value of being supported by knowledgeable and caring teachers. I strive to embody this ethos in my practice, and have successfully worked with students from all backgrounds in schools across Surrey and Sussex. In this time, I have been lucky enough to receive recognition from OFSTED, West Sussex County Council and The Good Schools Guide.

Outside the classroom, I am committed to my continued development. Over the last decade, I have undertaken postgraduate research into learner psychology, mentorship, learning technologies and pedagogy. For example, during my recent work at Cambridge, I designed and developed a digitally enhanced learning system to aid pupils' reading comprehension. For this, I was lucky enough to be awarded a distinction. I now draw on these experiences to develop robust, data-driven solutions that will benefit my students.

Through supportive, inspiring teaching, I have been lucky enough to achieve educational goals that my parents could only dream of. If I can, I would like to help your young person to achieve their goals too.
