Hi, I’m Sian — I’m a qualified teacher, dyslexia specialist, and proud phonics nerd.
I’ve been teaching for over 20 years, starting in secondary MFL before retraining as a dyslexia tutor and TEFL teacher. I also speak some Welsh, which can be helpful for learners from bilingual backgrounds or families who appreciate that extra connection.
I’ve worked with students from all over the world, both in schools and one-to-one, and I’ve been tutoring online since the first lockdown hit in 2020.
Since 2021, I’ve been lucky to be part of the Primary Tutor Project, supporting brilliant students (and brilliant families!) with everything from spelling and reading to confidence and memory strategies. I have also supported international students improve their writing for entrance exams.
I specialise in helping learners with Specific Learning Difficulties find their flow — especially with spelling, phonics, reading, and writing. I’m Sounds~Write trained, a qualified access arrangements assessor, and I tailor every session to the student’s pace and needs.
My sessions are warm, structured, and always supportive — with just the right amount of humour to keep things moving.
If your child needs a boost in literacy, learning support, or just someone who “gets” how they learn best — I’d love to help.
